Horrifying Femme Fatale – Clear Rivers

One of the remaining survivors of Flight 180, death itself stalks her.

Clear Rivers is not forced off the plane during Alex’s panic; she voluntarily steps off the plane during the heated confrontation between classmates and airline personnel.

Cheating death once, Clear along with the other survivors discover death’s design and its plan to kill anyone who was meant to die on the plane.

By looking for the signs, Clear becomes the only survivor of Flight 180 after the death of Alex. She voluntarily checks herself in a mental asylum.

A year after the events of Flight 180, she is contacted by Kimberly Corman who cheats death in a horrific pileup on Route 23. Clear decides to help Kimberly and the rest of Route 23 survivors after Kimberly tells her in no uncertain terms that she is a coward for staying locked up to survive.

Clear ends up dying when opening the door to another survivors hospital room, an electric plug disconnecting from the wall when the door opens and sparking in the oxygenated room. But the remaining survivors of Route 23, Kimberly and Tom, survive.

Memorable Quotes

Because of you, I’m still alive. – Final Destination (2000)

Total bullshit. I mean, you can find death omens anywhere you want to. – Final Destination (2000)

Bullshit! You told me Death has a distinct design. But Alex and I cheated Death, not once but dozens of times. The design is flawed, it can be beaten. – Final Destination 2 (2003)

Being alive after we were supposed to die caused an outward ripple. A RIFT IN DEATHS DESIGN! – Final Destination 2 (2003)

Though the Final Destination film franchise strayed away from the original cast and the intricate designs of the first and second installment, Clear Rivers is remembered. The only remaining survivor from the first film, she is the final girl who ends up sacrificed to death’s design.

What makes Clear interesting is that she was not forced off Flight 180, nor was she forced to help those survivors of Route 23. She trusts in Alex’s visions and signs, and she trusts in Kimberly’s drive to survive.

Clear is utterly compassionate, but sadly she does not make it through Final Destination 2. And the subsequent sequels were nothing more than teens playing as cannon fodder to death’s design.
